How are BOATVALUE® values determined?
BOATVALUE® is partnered with (J.D. Power Valuation formerly known as NADAguides). In order to place a value on used boats, we use several data analyses. Data information includes, but is not limited to, actual wholesale transactions and retail transactions, as well as asking price information from www.boattrader.com and other sites that are available. In addition, we take into consideration MSRP, invoice, and equipment assumptions, as well as analysis of economic indicators, geographic conditions, and market trends. We also have advisory board members who are comprised of marine dealers, brokers, and surveyors across the United States. We find the most active and reliable members in these fields to provide actual used sales information and survey reports. We review survey responses and used sales reports from our advisory board members, as another process added to our data points. Our values are based on a national average and the valuations may need to be adjusted for the local marketplace and are intended to be used as a guideline.
